The Better Together Project aims to create cultural reform across America through 3 groundbreaking initiatives meant to better memorialize the African-American experience. When we heal, so will the country.

3 Main Goals

We actively work to stop the glamorization of plantations and memorialize these grounds where many of our ancestors worked.

We work with schools to teach the importance Ida B. Wells’ literature to prevent the othering of human beings.

We elevate Black thought to find solutions for society’s unprecedented times.

Memorialize Plantations

We are actively working to stop the glamorization of plantations (think Gone With The Wind), and memorialize these grounds where many of our ancestors worked. With over +700 plantations across the country, The Whitney Plantation Museum is the only one that memorializes these sacred grounds where outright murder, assault, and genocide occurred. Ida B. Wells’ literature in schools

We work with schools to teach the importance Ida B. Wells’ literature. Her works provide vital frameworks on how to combat the othering of human beings, increase empathic learning, and have a better understanding of America’s multicultural society for a better world. Find out more here.

Elevate Black Thought

We believe it’s necessary to elevate Black thought and ideation for solutions on how to navigate these unprecedented times. The content developed at Melanin MeetUps such as our Illuminate talk series works to do this. Find out more about it here!
